Casale poles are all made from 100% corn flour. They develop their full aroma, especially when cooked in the traditional way over a charcoal fire, which gives them a light smoky flavour. Although polenta is an extremely simple, almost modest dish, it plays an important role in Italian cuisine.
Its variations are almost infinite, it can be eaten cold or hot, grilled, or baked, as a stew or as an appetizer, with an egg, with fish, with meat or with cheese. Even today, polenta with corn flour is the most popular of all types of polenta. Preparation: In a saucepan, bring 2 litres of water to boil with a tablespoon of salt.
Add the contents slowly, stirring constantly. Simmer for about 40 minutes, stirring constantly. Finally, refine with olive oil (or butter) and serve with grated cheese.
